Football last night

I play football every Friday night with old friends from university. What i really like is the attitude of all the brothers: they play tough, and even though there is some argy-bargy sometimes, there is rarely the swearing that plagues most matches.

Last night my team one 6-5. I missed an absolute sitter! But i setup a hat-trick.

Kudos to J who scored 5 of our 6 goals, masha'Allah.

Another ride, another incident

So i was driving home with my dad on Saturday evening along the A13 when a car cuts me up REAL bad. I horned at the driver, and then i see a black fella in the back wind down the window and stick his middle-finger up at me. Fine. So we carry on driving and the guy moves back into the left lane and is waiting for me to drive past with his window fully down, no doubt waiting to send another finger my way.

But he exits before us and as he pulls off the A13 he looks back at me and i signal with my finger and thumb that he's a small person, so he makes this aggressive face, and starts shouting at me, then before i know it my dad is waving his fist at him and shouting "pole axe! pole axe!"

"Pole axe?" What does that mean? And then suddenly it dawns on me... my dad was saying "boll****s, boll****s!"

LOL.

In other news, Bilal Philips will be doing a talk at Regents Park Mosque next weekend insha'Allah. I'm looking forward to going there because its been ages since i saw him.

Al-noor fun day

Last sunday i went over to Valentine Park for a funday organised to raise money for Al-Noor Primary School. They had loads of stuff there: stalls, funfair rides, a hairdressers and massage parlour for the sisters, barbeques, and check this out: a bouncy castle for adults. But i didn't go on it! I thought it might be a bit embarrassing, if a 13 stone beardy was jumping around on there, haha.

In the end they attracted over 5000 people and raised around £20k, which is quite impressive.

Then, on the way back home, as i came off the roundabout (taking the last exit) some idiot tried to cut me up. When i horned at him, he shook his wrist at me (in a rude way) and then stopped ahead of me, got out and started F'ing and blaring saying i was exiting the roundabout from its inside lane. I don't know what his problem was - i was indicating.

Finances seminar

Last week was my second anniversary, and i'd booked two days holiday from work. But i fell ill on the night i left work. Would you believe it? So all my plans were cancelled and i stayed cooped up in bed for the rest of the week.

On Sunday i went to a seminar on the halal and haram of business transactions delivered by a Madina graduate, Tawfique Choudhury. I learnt a lot of new things because this topic isn't discussed very often. I was surprised at the low turn out because lots of people have businesses, or have credit cards, or are wanting to buy a house.

Its shocking how little we know of this topic. For instance, did you know that if you were asked by a friend to break a 20 note into two 10s, and then you said you only have one and that he can pay you back the other 10 tomorrow or some later date, that this is actual a transaction which has riba in it? Amazing!

Hopefully the lectures will be made available online and then the international community can benefit from them, insha'Allah.
