I usually have my computer switched off when no one is using it, but i left it running by mistake Thursday evening connected to the net. When i started working on it on Friday - all sorts of weird stuff was happening. I couldn't access the net properly, half my applications weren't working. ..
Complete disaster - i had been hit by some kind of internet worm. But serves me right - the only protection i had running was crappy XP Firewall.
The clever bugger would eat over my real executables and then make a copy of itself and rename it to the executable it had just munched.
Anyhow, i was able to backup most of my stuff before formatting the HD and have now re-installed XP pro on my computer.
I've downloaded Firefox 1.0.5 - is anyone else experiencing problems with smooth-scrolling on it?

I'm using firefox, and have been for a while, and it scrolls fine. i wonder if you have the wrong video driver? i also run anti-spyware, anti-virus software, and a firewall.
what's going on with JIMAS? i heard they had invited sufis to speak at their events. Astarghfullah!!!
I dont use firefox..i use internet explorer.
Spot on Arshad :) I updated the graphics driver and the scrolling is fine now.
Yes, its one of those things that has caused lots of debate here in the UK. All i can say is that Abu Muntasir (the head of JIMAS) has lots of experience in da'wah and i'm willing to trust in his experience that he knows whats he's doing, insha'Allah.
The other thing is that at some point someone has to try to build bridges with the the sufis. At the end of the day they're Muslims too and we can't carry on the way we are, each group heading in its own direction.

Sr. Hibba the yahoo group my wife posted up is the best list out there. Not only does it advertise talks and other islamic events, its also a bit like "Muslim classifieds".
Anyhow, yes, i have heard of that event and i was going to post the details of that up anyway. Gimme a few days and i'll stick up the entire programme on my blog insha'Allah.
You won't see the sufis inviting mainstream Muslims to speak at their events. These sufis have slandered scholars and have such deviant ideas about Islam, that the site of them sickens me. Just the other day on Al-Maghrib, I was reading about Mawlid and some articles sufis have circulated in which they say Sheikh ul Islam Ibn Tamiyyah endorsed. Some knowledgeable brothers responded and showed that the translation was false and gave the sheikh's true opinion on the matter. Also there was a nice piece put up there showing how there is shirk that Qasidah Burdah song that sufis love to sing.
I heard Abu Muntassir is having some heart problems, may Allah (SWT) cure him.
